Sunday, July 3, 2016 - 3 Year Anniversary Flare

Well, a few weeks ago I started getting worse, especially on my hands, and I was hoping it was due to the heat and/or stress from the Blue Goji Madness competition, but after coming home and returning to normalcy, the symptoms have got worse.  My eyes are especially annoying, and I have been to both my GP and ophthalmologist, each giving me drops and ointment, but they have continued to get worse.  My hands are a mess and a rash has returned to the inside of my elbows.  Shit.  I feel okay internally, with no signs of temperature control problems, so I am really hoping this will be mild.

  2. I have a question about one of the older pics. The edema you suffered. How long did it last? Did it hurt? Did it feel like your lymph nodes were burning at times?

    1. Hi mtmuller! Sorry, I just found this. The initial edema was fairly severe and started shortly after I started TSW. It took months to go away and did reappear, but less of it, during my 1st, and maybe second, year anniversary flares. My GP, by the way, thought that my edema was made worse by taking a lot of ibuprofen, so I stopped using it regularly and used hydroxyzine (Atarax) instead. My edema did not hurt and was unrelated to lymph nodes swelling up, which did happen for me but less than what I have heard many others say. How are you doing now?

    2. Im not too bad. Im not keen on pills so i dont take a lot of painkillers. Mine seemed to be related to lymph nodes. Weird! Its basically better, or at least livable. I cant really complain, okay, so i lost two months to sheering pain and edema, but im coming along. Ive not found tsw to be any worse than all the years of crappy skin, only now im getting better. Slowly, slowly, elasticity is returning. I have to take it easy, but i can. I just passed 7 months, and can wear jeans for a while. Clofibrate works well for me. Thanks for answering. Hope your flares are over.

    3. Oh and through the worst if it, my liver function was down. Its back up now. But i also had enough of that when i found out, and though i eat super healthy i started to eat specifically for my liver, apples, cabbage, lemon water, extra vit c. And ive started to feel better. I still have the pain in my groin lymph nodes, but not so bad.
